Today was our Playground Grand Opening. Thank you for showing great manners and patience during the assembly in honoring our special guests.
Again, a spelling test will held on Friday. This time you will get 25 words.
I will give you the last week's test results back tomorrow. Also, we will review some of the more challenging words.
Science - We will be looking at our ducks and insects tomorrow.

Reminders
Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
Playground Grand Opening
Tomorrow (May 31, 2011) we are celebrating the opening of our playground. Each student will be served cheese pizza and chocolate milk for lunch. There is no cost for this special event. Lunch will be held from 11:00 am - 12 pm. An assembly will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
For afternoon recess, all students will receive a popsicle.
Volunteer Celebration
When: Thursday, June 9, 2011; 1:30pm - 3:00 pm
Where: Grand Hall
Who: All parents (not students) who have volunteered at our school
What: Join us for a snack, refreshments, brief entertainment and an opportunity to visit with other parents
Why: Our thanks for your time and efforts to make Panorama Hills a great place to learn!
*Babysitting services will not be offered at the school. If you need to bring your younger children, please fill in the form sent home last week.
If you did not receive a form, please have your child ask me for one!
Scientist Visit this Thursday!
Mr. Richard Patching will be visiting our class on Thursday to talk about Sound Production. Please bring a metal spoon with your name labeled on it with masking tape.

We spent the afternoon enjoying our caterpillars, mealworms and ducks. Tell your parents about being able to hold the insects and ducks today. Also, share with them some of your observations.
Grand Opening Lunch for Students
Tuesday May 31st Panorama Hills School will be celebrating the Grand Opening of our playground. We will be providing a slice of Little Caesars cheese pizza and chocolate milk to all grade 1-4 students. There is no cost to the students for the pizza and chocolate milk.
Parent Council AGM - Tonight!
Dear Parents,
Please join us for the Annual General Meeting of the Parent Council this evening, Thursday, May 26, at 7pm. This will be the final meeting of the Parent Council for this school year. Come learn what has been happening this year and what we have planned for next year.

Tadpoles Arrived Today!
Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
We received tadpoles today. Tell your parents about what you've observed so far. Also, our fourth duck egg hatched today. We will visit with them tomorrow. You will also get to vote on names.
Yearbook orders are due. Please bring your order envelopes if you are interested in buying one.
We will continue working division and fraction work tomorrow.
Please get some good rest tonight. Many of you were restless and antsy today during class time.

Grade 3 Spelling Test on Friday
Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
I will give you a 50 word spelling test on Friday. I will be looking for whether you can spell words that are frequently used by Grade 3 students. There is little you can do to study for this test as I will choose words randomly from a list.
Please come dressed for the weather - rain. Also, do your best to stay dry and out of puddles.
Share with your parents - the newest members of the Grade Threes....the ducks! Tell them about what it's like to hold a newborn duck in your hands. Tadpoles should arrive later this week. You can also share with them news about caterpillars.
