Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
Please remember to complete your Literacy MAP homework. Many of you are forgetting your work at school. By now you should realize that you will have homework Monday to Thursday. Fridays are your spelling tests and no homework is usually assigned on weekends.
Again, please read over the Winter Poem we will be sharing at the assembly on Thursday.
We had outdoor recess today. However, we do not know how the weather will be tomorrow. Please remember to dress warmly.
Have a great night. See you tomorrow.

Poem Practice
Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
Today we had indoor recess as it was too cold for us to be outside. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
You were each given a copy of the poem "White Snow Bright Snow" to read over tonight to practice for Thursday's assembly. We will practice it tomorrow as a large group with Miss Laslo's class.
Parents are welcome to attend the assembly at 1 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2011. It will be held in the Grand Hall.
Fun Lunch forms are due Thursday, January 13, 2011. It is scheduled for next week.
Please ask mom and/or dad to help you practice how to make different dollar amounts with coins.
Remember to read tonight and finish Literacy MAP homework assigned by your teacher.

Thursday's Agenda
Dear Grade 3' & Parents,
The virtue of the month is Commitment.
In class we have been talking about 'finishing what you start with your best effort and attitude.'
Today we read the book 'The Master's Apprentice,' where Marco keeps his promise to his father even when it was very challenging. Share with your parents, your thoughts on the meaning of commitment.
Please spend time reading tonight. You can also show your parents how to play the 'Mystery Number' game we have been playing in class - where they have to find the numbers that fit into the boxes.
Tonight you are bringing home Literacy MAP homework. Please remember to complete your homework by practicing a line of each word and a sentence below that uses the word. Remember, each line should have the word written 4 or 5 times with proper markings.
Please take some time tonight to practice reading out loud the below poem. We will be practicing reading out loud the poem in preparation for our Assembly.
White Snow Bright Snow
by Alvin Tresselt
Softly, gently in the secret night,
Down from the North came the quiet white.
Drifting, sifting, silent flight,
Softly, gently, in the secret night.
White snow, bright snow, smooth and deep.
Light snow, night snow, quiet as sleep.
Down, down, without a sound;
Down, down, to the frozen ground.
Have a great night. See you tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!
Hello Grade 3's and Parents,
Thank you for beginning to bring in your recyclable building materials. Please continue to bring in any of the items discussed in class. The more we can collect, the more creative we can be in our building.
Levelled Learning begins tomorrow. A reminder that your Literacy MAP homework will also be coming home for tomorrow nights homework. If your blue Literacy MAP book is at home, remember to bring it to school tomorrow.
Please take some time to read your new Library Books you borrowed from the Library. Although the weather has been warm, you are still expected to dress for the winter weather. This includes a warm jacket, ski pants to play in the snow, a toque, mitts and boots.
Have a wonderful evening. See you tomorrow.

Library Tomorrow
Dear Grade 3's and Parents,
Later this week you will receive a letter listing the various building materials to look for in your recycling at home. However, you can begin collecting items from home today. We will be using these items for our Building and Testing unit. If every student brings a bag full of useful and clean materials, we will have plenty to share amongst our Grade 3 community. Please do not purchase or buy items from the store for our building unit.
Library Exchange is tomorrow. Please remember to return your Library Books as you have had them since Winter Break, even if you plan to renew them. Have a great night. See you tomorrow.

Welcome Back!
Dear Grade 3's & Parents,
Welcome back to school!
Students showed great excitement in catching up with one another and sharing the events of their holidays. It was great to hear the many surprises and stories you each had in spending time with family & friends.
To start the year well, students will require support to rebuilding regular routines for sleeping, eating and homework. Literacy MAP homework will be sent home later this week. However, please ensure that you are reading each night for at least 20 minutes.
Library exchange is scheduled for Wednesday morning. Please remember to return your books.
See you tomorrow.
